 SRHA GENERAL MEETING MINUTES - February 6, 2021

 

MINUTES OF

STRAWBERRY RIDGE HOA

FEB. 06, 2021



President, Tom Beckmeyer, called meeting to order at 10:00AM.

All Board Members present except Committee Chairman, Ken Westphal.

Treasurer’s report read by Treasurer, Larry Caplinger. Balance in treasury - $5395.48. Report approved as read.

No Recording Secretary report was given of meeting held on Jan. 19, 2021.

Rose Panella, Membership Chairman, stated there were now 108 members in HOA. She further stated that all old and new members must submit application for membership to be eligible to vote on March 6, 2021. No new applications will be taken after Jan. 31, 2021 until April 1, 2021.

There was a discussion of By Laws changes by Sharon Hurley.. She stated they mainly needed a cleaning up of language. Officers of Board can be Chairman of a Committee as long as there is a Co-Chairman. All general meetings must be held either monthly or quarterly of the fiscal year. No Board member can spend in excess of $500.00 without Board approval except in an emergency. A proposal to amend our fiscal year to become the calendar year as it will be easier for accounting and tax purposed. A motion was made to approve the changes in By Laws. Mary Kendall approved and Rose Panella seconded the motion.

Rose Panella will organize a membership drive starting in April 2021.

Larry Caplinger told of a Food Drive being held on Route 60 on March 13th. This Drive would help the people in our park who benefit from our food pantry. Volunteers are needed to help.

Peg Thomas asked if we would make a list of all residents who are bed-ridden and unable to leave their homes. This is so important for emergencies and making sure these residents were informed of issues concerning them. This issue will be directed to CERT.

Mary Kendall gave report of last RAC meeting held on Jan. 28th. All members were present. Minutes are posted on the BLOG.

Rose Panella made motion that meeting be adjourned. Larry Caplinger approved and Mary Kendall seconded.

STRAWBERRY RIDGE HOMEOWNER’S MEMBERSHIP

REASONS TO JOIN SRHOA: Strawberry Ridge Homeowners Association is the only legal body accepted by The State of Florida to act on behalf of all residents of our park. SRHOA meets regularly with management and negotiates on behalf of all residents. SRHOA constantly evaluates and analyzes ways and means to improve our quality of life. SRHOA retains the services of legal counsel, who assists SRHOA to operate in a legal manner.

SRHA is your watch dog on important items such as; rent increases, changes in Strawberry Ridge rules and regulations, and other services. Should it be deemed that one or more items is improper, SRHA would negotiate, mediate or, if necessary, recommend litigation to protect the residents of Strawberry Ridge.

SRHA is managed by a Board of Directors elected by the voting members and consists of seven Di-rectors including the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Paid membership also gives you the privilege to vote on issues as required. The Board is empowered by law to act on behalf of all members. The board establishes committees to carry out specific duties and programs each year such as:

Welcoming, Entertainment, Finance & Audit, Membership, Rent, RAC (Resident Advisory Council)

SRHOA also sponsors many social events throughout the year. Monthly coffee and donuts, the 4th of July cookout, and other holiday events are FREE to all residents.

SRHA also maintains an office with posted hours when selling tickets for events located in the Activity Center on Strawberry Ridge Blvd.

Remember there is strength in numbers. Membership in SRHA is only $6.00 per year or $15.00 for three years. Our membership runs from April 1st of the current year to March 31st of the following year. This is an inexpensive way to protect your investment.
